Trustiva Tablets contain the antiviral medications Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate, which are widely used as part of antiretroviral therapy (ART) for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. This combination works by reducing the amount of HIV in the body, helping to strengthen the immune system, delay the progression of HIV-related complications, and improve overall quality of life. Trustiva Tablets are prescribed for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older who weigh at least 35 kg. When taken consistently as directed, this medication can effectively control HIV and significantly reduce the risk of disease progression. However, it is important to note that Trustiva does not cure HIV, and individuals may still transmit the virus to others, making continued preventive measures essential. The medication should not be used by patients with known allergies to Emtricitabine, Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate, or any of its ingredients. It is also generally not recommended for individuals with severe kidney impairment or end-stage renal disease who are not undergoing hemodialysis. Regular medical monitoring may be required during treatment to assess kidney function and ensure the safe and effective management of HIV infection.
